From Diagnostics to Digital Support: Developing an Application
for Monitoring Adolescents’ Behavior in Social Pedagogy
The paper presents the development of a digital tool – an application for mon-
itoring the behaviour of adolescents in residential care institutions – as an in-
novative approach that integrates social pedagogical diagnostics with digital
competences. The application is designed to support professionals in system-
atically recording, tracking, and analysing adolescents’ behaviour while simul-
taneously engaging young people in self-reflection and active participation
in their own progress. This integration strengthens both multidisciplinary col-
laboration and digital literacy among professionals and users. Key functional-
ities include individual profiles, goal setting, daily behaviour tracking, visual
progress reports, calendars, and reward systems. Particular emphasis is placed
on data protection and on maintaining the balance between digital monitor-
ing and personal relationships, which remain fundamental to social pedagog-
ical practice. Although still in its pilot stage, the concept demonstrates poten-
tial for more transparent teamwork, enhanced youth participation, and greater
responsibility for personal development within the digital transformation of
social pedagogical practice.
