The Russian language in the time of the pandemic
This article focuses on certain aspects of the linguistic change in
the Russian language following the Covid-19 pandemic. The anal-
ysis is conducted from a synchronic perspective, and the reflection
concerns not only lexical neologisms, but also innovations affect-
ing morphology and semantics, as well as the ways in which the
language represented the pandemic situation. Even taking into ac-
count the vastness of the phenomena investigated, we can state
that the overall impact of the pandemic on the Russian language
system remains limited; it changed more the way of life, and thus of
communication during the pandemic period, rather than the Rus-
sian language as a whole.
