»… KREPOSTI, ZNANJU NAJ BI VI SLUŽILI « (PEKEL XXVI 120): DANTEJEVE SLEDI V POEZIJI
FRANCETA PREŠERNA
Na podlagi hitrega pregleda virov bi lahko dobili vtis, da je med tremi florentinskimi kronami Petrarka tisti,
ki je najbolj vplival na poetiko Franceta Prešerna. To sicer drži, vendar je kljub temu v poetiki slovenske
romantike mogoče najti tudi številne sledi največjega italijanskega pesnika Danteja Alighierija. Dantejeva
recepcija pri Prešernu je najverjetneje logična posledica izjemne erudicije Prešernovega prijatelja Matije Čopa,
ki še danes velja za največjega slovenskega dantologa. Dantejev vpliv je razviden iz več dokazov: nekateri
Prešernovi rokopisi vsebujejo pripise Dantejevih verzov, harmonija in vsebina njune najljubše pesniške oblike
— soneta, »moralna resonanca«, ki jo je izrazil Andrej Capuder, njuna skupna vnema pri uveljavitvi maternega
jezika in nenazadnje lik ženske, na eni strani Beatrice v Božanski komediji in na drugi Bogomila v Krstu pri
Savici. Namen prispevka je zajeti vse do danes predstavljene sledi in raziskati ne samo literarne, temveč tudi
filozofske in duhovne vezi, ki vežejo največja pesnika obeh evropskih narodov.

‘BUT VIRTUE TO PURSUE AND KNOWLEDGE HIGH.’ (HELL XXVI 120): DANTE’S TRACES IN
THE POETRY OF FRANCE PREŠEREN
Although from a quick analysis of the sources it may seems that among the three Florentine Crowns it was
Petrarch who most influenced the poetics of France Prešeren, it is still possible to find traces of the greatest
Italian poet, Dante Alighieri, in the poetic of the Slovenian Romanticism, especially taking into account the
exceptional erudition of his friend Matija Čop, still considered the greatest Slovenian dantologist. This is
demonstrated by some verses of Dante transcribed alongside the poems in the manuscripts of the Slovenian
poet, the harmony and contents of their favourite poetic form - the sonnet, the ‘moral resonance’ expressed
by Andrej Capuder, their common fervour in the affirmation of the mother tongue and last but not least
the figure of the woman, on the one hand Beatrice in the Divine Comedy and on the other Bogomila in the
poem The Baptism on the Savica. The purpose of this contribution is to take up all the traces that have been
presented so far and to search not only the literary ones, but also the philosophical and spiritual ties that bind
the great poets of the two European nations.
