SEA WALNUT leta 2005, a šele od leta 2016 ga redno
srečujemo ob naših obalah. V velikem
Mnemiopsis leidyi številu se pojavlja poleti in čeprav je
(A. Agassiz, 1865) povsem nenevaren za kopalce, je stik z
njim za številne moteč.
Proviene dalle coste dell’Oceano Atlantico occi-
dentale, è stata introdotta nel Mar Nero tramite
le acque di zavorra intorno al 1980 e si è poi diffu-
sa in tutto il Mar Mediterraneo. È stata osservata
per la prima volta nell’Adriatico settentrionale nel
2005, ma solo dal 2016 è regolarmente incon-
trata intorno alle nostre coste. Si verifica in gran
numero in estate e sebbene sia completamente
innocua per i bagnanti, il contatto con essa è
sgradevole.
It originates from the shores of the western Atlan-
tic Ocean, it was introduced into the Black Sea by
ballast water around 1980 and has then spread
throughout the Mediterranean Sea. It was first
observed in the North Adriatic in 2005, but only
since 2016 it’s regularly encountered by our coa-
sts. It occurs in large numbers in the summer and
although it is completely harmless to swimmers,
contact with it is unpleasant.
