Movement Patterns and Preventive Exercise Strategies

movement patterns that underpin complex techniques. Key priorities in-
clude controlled knee alignment during squat- and landing-type tasks,
efficient hip-hinge mechanics for safer lifting and throwing actions, ro-
bust trunk activation strategies for effective force transfer, and appro-
priate scapular control during striking, gripping, and defensive actions.
When athletes lack adequate control of these movement patterns, forces
may be redistributed to more vulnerable anatomical structures, thereby
increasing mechanical stress and injury risk.
In practice, injury prevention may be strengthened through the sys-
tematic teaching of fundamental movement patterns, progressive transi-
tion from low-load controlled tasks to dynamic and sport-specific situa-
tions, and early identification and correction of common compensatory
strategies. Integrating brief assessments of movement quality and sim-
ple corrective exercises into warm-up routines and weekly training ses-
sions represents a feasible and practical strategy that supports both per-
formance development and long-term athlete participation.
