specific comments of his music – in this case regarding his opera King Da-
vid, Cither and the Sward – reads: »His composition is, as excitingly modern
as it is, at the same time deeply rooted in archetypal patterns and figures«.22 In
this perspective the sublime reveals itself as a net of basic yet distinct experi-
ential phenomena with somewhat puzzling nominal embedding: toward cer-
tain new experience or toward an age-old ideal of musica perennis? At least,
the composer tends toward such a position.
